Studio

Built in the town’s heyday, the former St. Michael’s Catholic School building has survived the tides of neglect and dilapidation that ravaged Braddock’s built environment. This historic building has endured in order to become a centerpiece in the community’s revitalization efforts. Dubbed Unsmoke Systems, this project is composed of Braddock’s only current gallery and creative venue in combination with artists working in studio spaces housed in the same building. As a venue, Unsmoke Systems is a 2700 square foot flex-space which can play host to creative endeavors of all disciplines or to private events. As studio space, the project houses a motivated and accomplished group of artists from the Pittsburgh area who have affected change in the community by housing their talents and energy in a town working to reshape its identity.
